Being called to love our neighbours, Garth has focused on creating affordable housing solutions since the 1980s. With prayers and the support and direction from Bishop Crosby, Father Tony and board members of De Mazenod Door and St. Patrick’s Church, Eugene’s Place and Mary’s Ark have become safe, secure affordable homes for men and women moving out of Hamilton shelters. While congregate homes continue to serve many residents, in the past decade Garth has worked with homeowners and investors to build several legal secondary suites which provide safe dignified affordable housing for individuals and families on housing wait lists. As by-laws evolve and opportunities arise, Garth looks for new collaborative ways to provide sustainable housing and supports for people most in need. Garth and his wife Lynette enjoy helping the residents of Mary’s Ark and other homes move forward in their lives. Garth and Lynette are so thankful to all the friends of St. Patrick’s who volunteered, donated and/or contributed financially towards making Mary’s Ark a very special home to very special women.
